When it is cooked right then turkey is a joy to eat and makes a great meal, but if you cook it wrong then it becomes a real pain to try and eat all that dry and tasteless meat. The usual method for cooking a turkey is to blast it in the oven, but not only is that a lot of trouble and takes a long time, it also dries it out. In my opinion frying a turkey is the best way to seal in the juices and make sure you have some nice juicy meat.
The propane fryer is probably the most popular one at the moment, although it is also the least safe as you can knock it over and get boiling hot oil everywhere, and it can set the oil on fire if it gets too hot. If you use an indoor electric turkey fryer instead then it will be up on the side with a cover on it so you don’t need to worry as much about it being knocked over (unless you have a dog who jumps up on the counter) and it has a thermostat on it to regulate the temperature for you, so you can just sit back and relax.
You need to fry a turkey for about 3-4 minutes per pound, so your average 14lb turkey would be about 42 - 56 minutes (once the oil has gotten back up to temperature), then check it with a meat thermometer before serving just to be sure. Then serve it up with some sweet potatoes and all the trimmings and you have the perfect Thanksgiving meal, or just a great meal anytime.
